What to expect

Lip augmentation is performed on an outpatient basis and takes just a few minutes to complete. A local anaesthetic may be applied in order to reduce discomfort. Injections are administered using very fine needles to further minimise any discomfort.

There are two types of lip augmentations treatments – both are made from hyaluronic acid, which is a natural substance, found in the human body:

Juvederm
Restylane

What to expect after

“Patients can immediately resume their daily activities after the injections are complete,” says Dr. Trelles. “The lips may be slightly swollen and tender to the touch, but this will subside as the anesthesia wears off. If needed, over the counter pain medication can be taken to reduce these symptoms.”

Results

The final results of a lip augmentation are apparent immediately after the treatment and appearance continue to improve over the next few days. The results can last up to six months, but follow-up treatments are recommended every three to six months.
